Brand Review: Biesecker

I can't believe we're already one week into August. Time flies by so quickly! I've been meaning to review this organic brand for a while, and finally I'm doing it. I'm not 100% into organic and natural products, but I do my best to read ingredients and to choose the best I can. When it comes to organic skin/body/hair care, things are so much easier as I don't have to wonder if something is good or bad. Though like with anything else, I still pay attention to what's in the products as they might contain something my skin doesn't tolerate.

The brand I'm talking about is Biesecker (link). I'm sure you will read more about them on their website, but I just wanted to mention a few points that are close to my heart. This brand not only uses natural and organic products, but they also do not adversely affect soil/water/woodlands/wildlife in the manufacturing process. Another great act of Biesecker's is that a portion of all profits is donated to pursue a treatment and eventual cure of Crohn's Disease. I always feel better when I shop with companies that have special causes and add to the greater good.

I love body scrubs, so I'm going to review Biesecker Spa Sensations Salt Scrub* (link) and Gentle Touch Sugar Scrub* (link). In general I'm not a fan of salt scrubs as they are often more abrasive and harsher on the skin, but this one is so fine that I could barely tell which one is which if I didn't look at the container. I used both of these scrubs all over my body. The only way to tell a difference otherwise was that if I had a cut/scrape on my body, I could feel salt.

As you can see from the photo, both scrubs look similar in texture. They are both coconut oil and cocoa butter based, but these ingredients are infused into the scrubs, so the texture is uniform and oil doesn't separate from sugar/salt. However, in cooler temperatures cocoa butter and coconut oil get solid and hard-ish, so you need a spatula to take the product out of the container. When the temperature warms up, the scrubs soften up and can be easily with fingers.

Both of the scrubs have very gently scents, they feel nice on the skin and doesn't irritate it. I'm usually leaning towards sugar scrubs, but with these two it's hard to pick one. I think I still prefer sugar as it goes over irritated skin better, but as far as doing their job, they're both great.

Goat Milk Body Lotion in Lavender Vanilla* (link) has a beautiful texture, which is not too runny and not too hard. A little bit goes a long way giving a long lasting hydration to the body. It applies easily and absorbs well. I think this could perform even as a nice foot cream. I've been using this lotion quite often, but I'm still not halfway through. Biesecker has 4 options for goat milk lotions (Pomegranate Melon sounds so yummy!). Lavender is not my number one choice when it comes to scents, but my nose can't really detect it in this lotion. However, I can smell goat milk and vanilla, and this combination is not my favorite especially since the lotion has a strong scent which lingers for a while. I really wish it was less fragranced and the scent would be barely detectable to make the product easier to use.

Next product that I tried is Cracked Hand and Foot Cream* (link). This cream has a light, lotion-like texture, but it performs as promised. Because of it's lightness you might think you need to apply more of it, but you only need a little bit (you can always apply more later). It doesn't absorb as quickly as the body lotion, so it's better to work with smaller amounts or else you might end up jut moving the cream around. The scent is barely there, but I can smell minty notes, which is nice to use on feet as it gives extra refreshment.
