Spring Favorites

It's almost summer, so today I wanted to share my spring favorites. This list will include beauty and non-beauty items as well as some habits.

READING: This year I wanted to start reading more. I've always loved reading, but either I just get lazy and not pick up a book or I start doing something else. It's always the hardest part is starting, and once I start reading, I don't want to stop. I gave myself a goal of 10 books this year, and I'm already halfway there.

CANDLES: I've always loved candles, but once the weather gets warmer, I tend to use candles less and less. However, this spring I kept on using them as they make the rooms smell great and they add up to the atmosphere while reading. I also use candles not only at night, but in the mornings and during daytime as well, especially if I'm cooking. I recently got D. L. & Co. candle in Ruby Cassis* (link), and it smells sooo good. It has notes of red currants, pomegranate and berries, and I love the smell of red and black currents.

NO MASCARA: I love makeup and I wear it pretty much every day, but this spring I got into a habit of not wearing a mascara. I mostly don't skip mascara when going out, but during the day I often run errands with makeup on and no mascara. That's also partly because I have very sensitive eyes, and if they are irritated I skip mascara and let my eyes rest from everything that can make them feel uncomfortable. So after a few times like that I got into this habit as I like the look and my eyes feel good.

MAKEUP MIRROR: I have a mirror on the wall at my vanity table, but it's too far when I want a closer look, so after searching for a while, I decided to get Danielle Creations LED Bluetooth Music & Phone Mirror (link). I keep this mirror plugged into outlet, but it can be used with batteries if you want to move it around. I love listening to radio while getting ready, so it's a perfect 2-in-1 item. You can also use it to answer your phone, but I tried it only once and the quality wasn't the best.

MASKING: I got back into masking last year, but this spring I discovered more great masks, and I got back into using peel off masks. I also rediscovered sheet masks, and I enjoy using them a lot. If you're interested in what masks I use, I have a whole article on that HERE.

FACE MISTS/SPRAYS: For the longest time I've been using only witch hazel toner to wipe my face after washing it. Well, I would try different toner once in a while, but use them the same way. Though this spring I got into facial sprays and started using them differently. I will mist my face before applying skincare products or before applying a face mask. I also use them during the day as a refreshing spray or spritz on top of my makeup as a setting spray.

EYE & FACE SERUMS: I go through periods where I only use the basic products, and at other times I have a multi step skincare routine. This spring I was into "more is more" mood, and added eye and face serums to my skincare.

SELF TANNING: I like spring and summer, but I don't like sunbathing, so once the weather gets warm enough for bare legs, I start using fake tan. My all time favorite is Caribbean Solutions self tanner (link), which applies evenly no matter what. I need to apply it 2-3 times in a row to get a beautiful tan. True Natural self tanner* (link) gives the same result in 1-2 days, but it can apply a little patchy around feet, knees, elbows. To avoid that I started using my fake tan application glove that makes things easier. Since I use the glvoe, I get even application all over the body.
